Who Is Universe Fencing Brisbane East?
Short version: we're Universe Fencing, and we've opened a base at Birkdale to cover the bayside and the Redlands properly. Same licence, same crew, same way of working as universefencing.com.au and Universe Fencing Brisbane. The only thing that's new is the postcode.
Why open an east-side base at all
Because enough of the work was already coming from out here. We were driving from the other side of Brisbane to quote jobs at Wynnum and Cleveland, which is fine for the job itself and not fine for the bits around it. Coming back to check a level. Dropping off a sample. Getting out to a fence that came down overnight in a storm. All of that is a different proposition from twenty minutes away than from an hour and a half.
So there's now a Birkdale address, at 10 Kamala Pl, and the eastern suburbs get the same response time as everywhere else we work. Our coverage area runs through Wynnum, Manly, Lota, Thorneside, Wellington Point, Cleveland, Capalaba and the Redlands more broadly.
What we actually are
A QBCC licensed fencing contractor, licence 15433253, carrying full insurance. Not a broker passing your job to a subbie, and not a handyman operation working around the licensing. If you want to check us, the QBCC register is public and that number is the one to search.
In terms of size, we're bigger than the typical two-blokes-and-a-ute fencing outfit, and we own an excavator. That combination is the practical difference you'll notice. A hundred metres of boundary fence gets built by a crew rather than a pair. Concrete footings come out with a machine instead of a crowbar and a long afternoon. Demolition and construction happen in one engagement rather than you chasing two contractors.
What we're not
We're not the cheapest quote you'll get, and we're straight about why. We use H4 treated posts in the ground, marine-grade stainless hardware on jobs near the water, and we don't stretch post spacing to shave a quote. All of that costs a bit more on the invoice and shows up as a fence that's still straight in ten years.
We also don't do asbestos removal, and we'll stop and tell you if we find suspect fibre cement sheeting on a demolition. That's licensed work under separate regulations and it isn't ours.
How we work on site
We quote after looking at the job, not over the phone. Partly that's about measuring accurately, and partly it's because the things that drive the price out here aren't visible in a description: how much fall is across the boundary, what the soil is doing, whether there's access for the machine, how close you are to salt air, and what's going to come out before anything goes in.
Once the price is agreed it's a fixed price. We turn up when we said, we work through rather than disappearing to another job for a week, and we take the rubbish with us. None of that is remarkable. It's just noticeably less common than it should be.
The bayside-specific stuff
There are things about fencing out here that you learn by working here. Reactive clay through the Redlands that swells and shrinks and will move a shallow footing. Salt load close to Moreton Bay that eats 304 stainless and bright steel fixings. Exposed boundaries at Manly and Wellington Point that take a real belting from a south-easterly, where post spacing matters more than it does in a sheltered suburb. Storm season, which reliably puts fences on the ground every summer.
None of that is exotic. It just changes the spec, and a quote that ignores it is cheaper for a reason. Our approach to all of this is to build for the conditions and explain why.
What we build
Timber, Colorbond, aluminium and glass fencing, gates with or without automation, retaining walls, and fence removal. The full rundown is here, and if you're trying to work out whether now is the time to do something about your boundary, this one covers the usual triggers.
If you want a price, get in touch or call 0485 064 951. We'll come out, measure it up, and tell you what it'll cost.
